2013 Kansas City & JoCo Fall Fun and Festivals for Kids
Fall Festivals and fun are underway for 2013! With apple picking, festivals, harvests and more, the season is full of great family friendly fall events. Here are some of our favorite events that celebrate the season! Visit our Calendar of Events to find great fall fun every weekend.
September 27 - October 31
Pumpkin Hollow at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead
This annual fall attraction features a horse-drawn wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch where kids will enjoy a hay maze, hay pyramid, giant slides, and more. $7 admission (exclusive of Deanna Rose Farmstead admission fees, when applicable).

Wild West Days
Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm, 1200 E Kansas City Rd., Olathe, KS 66061
Enjoy lots of hands on activities for the whole family! Performances may include acts from the Whip Crackin' Dare Devils, Wicked Liars, the Santa Fe Desperadoes, and Gunsmoke and Petticoats. Some activities may require an extra fee. Take the free shuttle bus from Olathe North High School for this event.
September 28
Overland Park Fall Festival
Santa Fe Commons Park, Downtown Overland Park, KS
Browse the arts & crafts fair, three stages offering concerts throughout the day, enjoy the motorcyle and classic car show along with free kids' entertainment and activities like bounce houses, games and an inflatable obstacle course. Food vendors will also be available. Family friendly pricing for activities.
September 28 - 29 and October 5 - 6
Louisburg Ciderfest
Enjoy watching apples being pressed into cider, pony rides, donut making, live music and craft booths. Admission to Ciderfest is free, but there may be costs for various activities.
October 5
Into the Land of Oz
You and your family are invited to help Dorothy in her quest! Remember, there is magic in the night! You never know who you are going to meet along the trail! Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, oh my! Free admission.
October 5 - 6
25th Annual Applefest Celebration
Main Street, Weston, Missouri
Parades and festivities including soap making, wood carving, basket weaving and more. Market vendors, carnival rides, face and pumpkin painting, pony rides, and more. Admission is FREE.
October 6
Nature Crafts for Kids
Enjoy an afternoon of crafts, face painting, puppets, and family fun. Event is from noon to 4 p.m. and free with paid admission to Arboretum - $3/adults; $1/kids ages 6-12; Kids 5 & under are free. This event is suitable for kids ages 2-12.
October 12
Sprint Family Fun Days Fall Festival
Dino O'Dell delights with on-stage music while kids enjoy a hay bale maze, hayrides, a petting zoo, pony rides, a puppet show, trick-or-treating at nearby businesses, and more. Admission is FREE.
October 12 - 13
Shawnee Indian Mission Fall Festival
This 27th Annual festival brings family friendly fun in the form of crafts, entertainment, and food. Be entertained by American Indian dancers and flute players, musicians, blacksmiths, and other traditional craftsmen. Pony rides available and handmade crafts for sale. Admission is FREE.
October 24
Enchanted Forest at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park
Visitors will enjoy free activities including performances by marionette puppets, magicians and singers along the trail around Rose’s Pond and fun photos in the photo booth. Stroll the seasonal displays, visit friendly characters and enjoy performances at your leisure – no long lines this year.
October 26
Milldale Fall Festival
Enjoy the outdoors this fall and enjoy hayrides, storytelling, and roasting marshmallows. Admission is FREE and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
October 27
Halloween Extravaganza at Leawood Hy-Vee
Enjoy fall fun for the whole family. Kids come in costumes and will enjoy a family cookout from 11-5 p.m., a fire truck visit, face painting, cookie decorating, caramel apple decorating, games, and trick-or-treating. Admission is FREE, but donations are welcome to support JDRF.
