We announced earlier this afternoon on our Facebook page about the new Sea Life Aquarium scheduled to open in Spring 2012 at Crown Center, and our inboxes have been flooded with questions ever since! So, here's the deal on the new adventure that is just a little over a year away and will forever change your Crown Center experience!

The new Sea Life at Crown Center, will have groundbreaking on May 1, 2011, and is projected to open Spring 2012!  Not only will this be Kansas City's first aquarium experience, but Crown Center is making major adjustments to accommodate the near 50,000 square foot attraction!  This will make near double the size of the Phoenix, AZ location!

According to the Crown Center website, "Sea Life will occupy the first floor of Halls department store, as well as a portion of the second floor. To accommodate the new attraction, Halls' men's department will relocate to space on the third level of the Crown Center Shops. The Hallmark Cards product department within Halls will be consolidated into the Hallmark store at Crown Center, while the home decor and kitchenware departments will be relocated on Halls' second level. Halls' third floor departments (women’s apparel, shoes and accessories) will remain unchanged."

It is planned that the two-story aquarium will host more than 30 displays of unique marine life for visitors to enjoy.  Sharks, stingrays, seahorses, and starfish are among the bunch to be included, complete with a walk-through underwater tunnel!

This is a huge undertaking for Crown Center and an even bigger "yippee!" for Kansas City metro residents.  So, will YOU be taking your family to Crown Center's newest attraction once it opens?
